Alain Theiller graduated in Computer Sciences engineering from INSA Lyon, and worked for 10 years in a consulting company in Western Switzerland, France, and a few banks. As a young engineer, he also participated to the Camipro project, the first smart card-based authentication system at EPF Lausanne in 1995. 10 years ago, he then joined a Swiss company building biometric readers where he used to work with smart card leaders Gemalto and Oberthur, and biometrics products from Digital Persona, Precise Biometrics or Innovatrics. He is now CTO and founder of a consulting company Identypass in Geneva.
Identypass is the editor of the multi-biometry, smart card-based authentication product ‘BioKiosk’. This product aims at providing a strong and convenient multi-factor authentication solution for Windows and Citrix sessions. It is built on top of modular blocks allowing to change easily the biometry technology while keeping the same level of security and the same interface. A new version will soon offer a lighter, more mobile-friendly solution based on facial recognition and user PIN. This will suppress the need for specialized hardware, while keeping compatibility with the smart card-based solution.
